how can i decline to meet in a restaurant for business meeting purposes?

I have a female client, always she wants to meet in restaurants for business matters. She decides were, when and how.
I have to pay the bill. Now she wants to take her mother and brother too.

Hi Tomasa,

Clients (customers) can be a real pain, can't they? :)

First thing you need to decide is how badly do you want the business?

Next, is your refusal to meet in a restaurant likely to lose you the account?

Costs vs benefits.

Of course, you could always lie. Your doctor put you on a special diet, and you can't sit in a restaurant and keep it. Offer snacks at the office. Or don't.

Hope this helps.

I think Dan's right - you have to figure out whether this is likely to cost you the client. And, if so, how much you care.

I'd say, in the nicest way, "I'm so sorry, but I'm completely swamped and I've been brown-bagging it so I can eat at my desk. You wouldn't mind meeting here in my office, would you? I think it'll be more efficient for both of us."

Something like that.
