What's the difference between FT and PT employee payroll taxes?

I want to know if it's more cost effective not to hire additional PT help.

This is tricky because the answer is...it depends. Some payroll taxes have caps like unemployment where you pay the tax on the first $7000 of income. If you hired new employees you'd have to pay those taxes. On the other hand, if you make that FT employee work overtime to do the extra work the wages will cost you more than the small amount of taxes. Hope that helps.

Thank you. I'll have more questions on this subject. I'm trying to make a case to my supervisor as to hiring more PT help. Thanks again.
