What do I need to know about FACTA for my dental practice?

I just read that the FACTA red flag rules are going into effect for sure November 1, 2009. I'm not sure whether we extend credit - we do have some delayed payment plans - how do I know what we need to do to comply? Sounds like a nightmare.

You're right! After a year of delays, the Federal Trade Commission’s new FACTA Red Flags rules are effective November 1, 2009. The FACTA Red Flags rules will require millions of businesses that grant credit to establish and implement identity theft safeguards for customers. And yes, this could include dental offices, along with auto dealers, jewelers, furniture companies, health care companies, mortgage brokers, doctors, equipment leasing dealers and lots of others. See Help for FACTA Red Flags Compliance for more details.
