Question

How does hold music actually get on my phone for customers to hear while on hold?

I'm just starting. I've decided that I'd like to compose music that customers won't complain about. In my experience in customer service, I've often had people complain about the hold music before they even get to why they're calling in. I'd like to address this apparent need for more interesting hold music, and I'm curios to know, since I'd like it to be my business...how this music actually winds up on a business's phone line. Do you have to call the local phone service provider, or...how does it get there?

Hi Brian,

Most 'hold' music is played through your internal phone system.

There are systems that allow you to record your own music for play, but most will have 'canned' music in place for ASCI purposes. Talk to the people who sold you your phone system.

Hope this helps.
