Business license filings are public record. They are often published in your local issue of the local newspaper, Legal News, Business Journal, etc.

Most cities and counties will allow you to obtain the listings with varying requirements. Some charge for the service, some don't. Call the city/county offices in question and ask them what they require.

InfoUsa.com also provides a 'list' service for new business filings, but there is a substantial delay in getting the lists from them.
